Student data: we do not have it
ID Attendance Scanner does not upload, capture, store, or acquire student information. Student names, student IDs, attendance marks, and rosters are never sent to us and are never stored on our servers.
The Chrome extension runs on your computer. It reads what is already on your Focus School Software attendance screen in the browser — the same names and IDs you see — and uses that information locally to click Present, Tardy, or Absent on that page. Nothing from your roster is transmitted to the internet for attendance marking.

The only routine network request from the extension is license activation: your license key and an anonymous computer identifier. That verification does not include student names, student IDs, or attendance records. Read the license agreement for full software terms.

The rest of this page describes checkin.placeforteachers.com — the site where you buy a license. It is separate from how the extension handles student information on your computer.
What we collect on this site
- License purchase — Name, email, school and district names, US state, and seat counts you enter at checkout. Payment card details are handled by PayPal; we do not store card numbers on this site.
- License keys — We generate and email activation keys tied to your order. Keys are also shown on the receipt page after payment.
- Feedback — If you use Send feedback, we receive the message and any name, email, school, district, or state you optionally provide.
- Admin sign-in — License administration uses a password-protected login for authorized staff only.
What we do not collect on this site
- Student names, student IDs, or attendance records
- Roster exports from Focus School Software
- Public self-serve account signup (access is by invitation or admin)
How we use information
Order details are used to fulfill licenses, send receipts, and support renewals. Feedback is used to fix bugs and improve the product. We do not sell personal information.
Third parties
- PayPal — Processes checkout payments. Their privacy policy applies on their pages.
- Hosting (Vercel) — Serves this website and serverless API routes.
- Email delivery — Transactional email for receipts and keys.
- Amazon — Optional hardware links leave this site; we do not receive your Amazon account data.
Independence
ID Attendance Scanner is an independent product and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or officially associated with Focus School Software or any other student information system, school management software provider, or related company. All product names, trademarks, and registered trademarks are the property of their respective owners.
