Get 10 minutes back at the start of every class.

High school classes can hit 50 teenagers — and none of them listen. ID Attendance Scanner marks Present, Tardy, or Absent inside your existing Focus School Software session when they scan an ID, so you get those 10–15 minutes back. Compatible with Focus School Software (a third-party SIS). Built by a South Florida teacher.

Why he created it

John Place is a high school teacher in South Florida. His periods can have up to 50 teenagers. That’s not a quiet 15-kid group — nobody is listening, names get lost, and roll call turns into 10–15 minutes of chaos.

Focus School Software already offers a student ID scan add-on, and some districts have it — that’s a good fit when it’s on your campus. John’s district package doesn’t include it. He needed help with his own classroom management, so he built ID Attendance Scanner as a Chrome extension that works on the attendance page teachers already use. He figured other teachers might need it too.

Scanning gives him those minutes back, marks the right student even when names are hard to pronounce, and kids actually race to the barcode reader. Same Focus School Software page. Same Save button — still on you.

Why teachers need it

High school roll call is slow because the class is large and loud — up to 50 teenagers, and none of them are listening.

Get your time back

With 50 students, hunting radios and repeating names eats 10–15 minutes every period. Scanning cuts that so you can teach.

Right student, every time

Teens talk over roll. Names are hard to pronounce the first weeks. The ID scan marks the correct student — no guessing who said present.

Students race to scan

John finds tardy students hold themselves accountable when they scan in. You still hit Save in Focus yourself — it never submits attendance for you.

Why it works

Compatible with Focus School Software (third-party SIS) in Google Chrome. Marks in seconds instead of minutes. Student data is never uploaded — the extension reads your screen locally.

Scan on the page you already use

Install the Chrome extension. Students scan their ID at your desk while class settles in. ID Attendance Scanner is designed to automate authorized attendance actions within your existing Focus School Software session — no new attendance system.

Zero student data upload

We do not capture, store, acquire, or upload student data anywhere. The extension reads straight from your Focus School Software screen in Chrome and uses that to mark the roster — names and IDs never leave your computer.

One year, then renew

Teacher: one computer at $10. Schools type how many computers. Districts add each school. Chrome required. Read the license agreement.

Required hardware

A USB scanner is required

Not a phone camera — you need a USB barcode scanner that types like a keyboard. Any 1D USB scanner works; this is the cheapest one John uses in class.

No student data leaves your computer

ID Attendance Scanner does not upload, capture, store, or acquire student information. We never receive student names, student IDs, attendance marks, or rosters.

How it works: The extension reads what is already on your Focus School Software attendance screen in Chrome — the same names and IDs you see — and clicks Present, Tardy, or Absent on that page. That data stays on your machine. It is not sent to us or to any cloud service.

The only network call from the extension is license activation: your key plus an anonymous computer ID. Read the privacy page.
